Way to go, bro...

Since that last update on Old Boar, I have to report that Dan will be unable to commit to the project due to his recently being asked to play bass on the new Soulfly record. It's bittersweet, but congratulations, bro. You earned it. I don't think they're feeding him enough. (Thanks to Paulo for the link).

Barbara Funeral Home

Part of a 3-d model city we are building with the clients in Arts & Crafts at work. I did not do this project, a co-worker did it with her group, but I had to share it. This may be the one time someone else's project at work is more Metal than mine. Respect.

Dan Olivencia : Craftsman

"Polar Bear Cream"

Old Boar : Barbaric Sandwich Mysticism
Dan came out to Long Island Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day by playing some riffs on his home made bass guitar. That's right, he made it himself, saws to strings. He plugged it into my Gorilla Bass Amp that used to double as the PA system at Biolich rehearsals all those years ago, and layed out the beginnings of our new band... Finally, primitive guttural bleakness from Will and Dan of Biolich (The fat half).

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who came out to ABC NO RIO yesterday, lots of old faces and plenty of new ones, to. We had a blast and look forward to seeing you all again real soon. Special thanks to Ra for driving me, Brandon for signing us and Spencer for throwing the whole thing together. Artificial Brain 2012 - BRAIN CAMPAIGN.

Sam and Jon killing time before the next show.

Leave it to the Polish guys...

I was never very into Graveland, but I'm going to have to reconsider now that they took these new promo shots...

Oh, it gets better... Graveland promo pictures

Thanks to Paulo for the link.

Respect

Wayne Knupp 1976 - 2007

Wayne Knupp, original vocalist of Devourment, soundchecking before a set in 1997. Very impressive. Though I was already familiar with the guttural style of vocals by the time I heard Devourment in 97, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I used to listen to them non-stop in high school and this guy was a big influence on my vocal work. Rest in Peace dude.

Fuck the new Morbid Angel album. Seriously, fuck that.

They tricked the guy in the Carcass shirt into shaving his head before they became astronauts.
Want some professionally recorded, well written, well executed Florida style blackened Death Metal that rivals any big gun you care to mention? Want them to write songs about space? Want them to put it out for free download because Ron Vento (of Aurora Borealis) doesn't have shit to prove to anyone and he's just fuckin chill like that? No, you probably just want to speculate about Morbid Angels setlist at MDF this year on a message board or something. Or maybe you're fuckin chill like Ron Vento. Be like Ron.

Today was a really hard day, and I have had the life beaten out of me by time, women, drug addicts, myself and Death Metal. But then I found this. And now I have to feel better.

Gotcha

Ryan, ex-Dimentianon drummer. Nice shirt, champ.
Found this shot of Ryan making a questionable fashion statement while looking for Dimentianon interviews. Sadly, all of the guys pictured in the interview besides Mike, what I refer to as the "silver age" lineup, have gone their separate ways. I don't talk to those guys as much as I used to, but still consider anyone who was ever in that band a friend to some degree or another. I have fond memories of playing shows with Dimentianon and relying on Paragon Records for support back when I was in Biolich and will always feel indebted to them for how welcoming they were to me and my bands through the years, practically since I first started making music.

Here's what they've been up to lately, a recently released album entitled "Collapse the Void",  featuring Pete Christopher (Arti Brain drummer Winter season 2010), returned bassist Maureen (originally of the "golden age" lineup from back in the 90s), and famed Hungarian Death Metal guitar virtuoso, "Salty" Z. Unfortunately I was unable to fulfill a guest vocal appearance on the new album for various reasons, which is regretful. This may be the most well produced, well written and dynamic Dimentianon release ever. All hype aside, this is an excellent sounding album and is a true testament to perseverance in the underground metal scene.

And for those who want to reminisce, here's a link to the "Silver age" lineup interview:

The original Black Metal "Cradle"...

0:28 - Underground tape trading
1:06 -  Is that an upside down cross?
2:27 - Billy clearly reveals a huge upside down cross on his chest and points to it
2:46 - 2:56 - Billy simulates strangling a woman who looks like Marilyn Monroe and throws her away
3:26 - Billy gets so horny he invents Black Metal vocals
4:17 - haunted stereo
The dorky guy lives in the city but is locked away in his apartment with no adventure. He is afraid to leave the house because he is fearful of his own primal nature and sexuality. The woman in red is Satan come to set him free through lust and music. At the end of the video it is she who is thankful. This is because Satan is the primal nature and sexuality of man, and the dorky guy has allowed her to survive. This is why he gladly affirms her presence and passes her on to the younger man at the end.

Happy New Year, Naganooch...
